In 2009, the Veterans Health Administration (VHA) embarked upon an ambitious project to bring self-direction to all Veterans who want and need it. While that goal has yet to be met, in 2014-15, researchers at the National Resource Center for Participant-Directed Services (NRCPDS) spoke with Veterans in the Veteran-Directed Care program through a series of focus group and individual interviews. They found that for the Veterans themselves, Veteran-Directed Care "...changed everything".
Working from their recently published article in the Journal of Gerontological Social Work, Ellen Mahoney from Boston College and Merle Edwards-Orr from Applied Self-Direction will describe the 5 themes that came out of these interviews that show the deeply positive impact the program has on its participants.
This member-only webinar is scheduled for Thursday, March 28th from 3-4 PM (EST). Email email@example.com for more information.
