Since 2011, Melissa Blake has been the leader in developing the financial management services program used by Bay Aging in Virginia, Maryland, North Carolina, and Washington, DC. Bay Aging provides in-house financial management services to the more than 200 Veterans currently enrolled in the Veteran Directed Care program offered in partnership with Hunter Holmes McGuire VAMC in Richmond, Virginia, and Hampton VAMC in Hampton, Virginia. She has guided three partnering spoke agencies through the Readiness Review process and provides technical assistance to these agencies on a regular basis.
The successful financial management services program Melissa has developed allows partnering spoke agencies to deliver person-centered counseling services with confidence. In July 2018, she was a co-presenter of Stop the Hubbub….Let Bay Aging Be Your Hub at the National Association of Area Agencies on Aging (n4a) 43rd Annual Conference & Tradeshow in Chicago, IL. She is a strong supporter of the Veteran Directed Care program and promotes the tremendous impact this program has in the lives of Veterans all across the states of Virginia, Maryland, and North Carolina.
Melissa never shies away from a challenge. She has worked with programs in South Carolina and Arizona to provide technical assistance and support to determine solutions to program start-up and shut-down issues.
Under Melissa’s leadership, Bay Aging was awarded the 2018 n4a Aging Achievement Award for the Veteran Directed Care Hub & Spoke Model. In May 2019, she will accept the Intalere Achievement Award for the Veteran Directed Care program in Denver, Colorado.
