In the last three years, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has given new flexibilities to Medicare Advantage (MA) plans to provide supplemental non-medical benefits that address long-term services and supports needs and social determinants of health. This session examines programs adopting this new flexible service arrangement and explores ways we can promote self-direction in Medicare personal care services. The supplemental services could, for the first time, fund self-directed personal care with Medicare dollars.
