Powered by the People in PA: One Team's Journey as Part of the NCAPPS Self-Direction Learning Collaborative

In April 2022, the National Center on Advancing Person-Centered Practices and Systems (NCAPPS) launched the Self-Direction Learning Collaborative. The Self-Direction Learning Collaborative brings together 22 teams representing 16 states over the course of 17 months working to enhance the availability, quality, and accessibility of self-direction, through shared learning as they test and implement specific systems change efforts.

This session provides an overview of lessons learned and progress to date and highlight innovative approaches from one of the two Pennsylvania teams represented on the NCAPPS Self-Direction Learning Collaborative. This team is led by people with lived experience and includes all stakeholder groups in the Office of Developmental Programs' Participant Directed Services infrastructure. The aspiration is that while we learn from others in the collaborative, we apply those lessons to expanding the pool of Supports Brokers who are representative of disabled people while enhancing the learning and mentoring available for those working in this important role.
